BOSU Balance and Strength
Designed to incorporate the BOSU Balance Trainer using familiar strengthening and balance workout movements combined with BOSU's unique surface to create a dynamic and challenging class that improves balance, tone and overall strength.
Body Bars
These versatile additions to our program are 4 feet in length and less than 2 inches in diameter. The bars vary in weight from 4 to 18 pounds. The “mini” version of this bar is 2 feet in length and either 2 or 4 pounds. All bars are made of steel but incased in a durable rubber to insure a comfortable and secure grip. The Body Bars offer an alternative to free weights and can be integrated into classes like our Body Works, Stability or Core, Sports Conditioning or Circuit or offered as a class by itself. Although, the primary focus is on strength training, the Body Bars offer endless variations for balance, core stabilization and overall conditioning as well.
Resistance Balls
With an emphasis on functional fitness this strength and endurance class utilizes palm-sized medicine balls that allow the introduction of non-traditional movements. Expanding ranges of motion through slow and methodical movements helps to improve the condition of joints, muscles and other connective tissues. Primarily focuses on the promotion of muscle endurance, body awareness and balance.
Stability Balls
Although these oversized balls look like they belong in a child’s play yard do not be fooled! Originating in the area of Physical Therapy for rehabilitation they are excellent tools for creating a variety of exercises. Faced with the instability the ball can create for specific exercises, the guest can improve their core strength, overall muscle endurance and balance. The beauty of the ball is that it can also provide great torso support for those with problematic backs. The ball can provide a full spectrum of exercises for a well-balanced resistance program with an effective cross-training element.
Stretch
Stretch class is designed to teach proper body alignment while executing "static" or held stretching techniques. These movements promote improvements in flexibility and emphasize the importance of stretching for injury prevention. Breathing techniques also help with relaxation and the effectiveness of the stretches. A great experience any time of the day!
Waterworks
A non-impact class performed in the water. Using a variety of movements and equipment these classes may place the emphasis on cardiovascular conditioning, muscle toning and endurance or both. The Cal-a-Vie pool is kept between 88 and 91 degrees for a comfortable experience year round. Those that participate in water classes find them both therapeutic and fun
