Body Bars
A strength and endurance class using a classic fitness tool (simple one piece weighted fitness bars that are 4 feet in length and vary in weight from 2 to 18 pounds), teaching upper and lower body resistance exercises along with balance and alignment. These bars can be incorporated into a wide variety of classes and used as an alternative to dumbbells.
Bodyworks
If strength and endurance are areas that you need the most improvement, then this class is for you. Bodyworks is exclusively designed to improve your knowledge of free weights and the many variations that will keep your workout fresh and forever challenging. Using Step benches and risers are used as platforms and/or benches giving additional options for increasing or decreasing the degree of difficulty as you progress. This class will not only give you a serious workout for your whole body but many ideas you will be able to utilize when you get home.
Core and More
This class reviews and includes exercises for the core muscles but also includes sculpting and toning movements that target legs, buttocks and upper body. Exercise tools may be integrated into this class to add variety.
Core Training
An essential class that educates guests on proper technique and execution of exercises designed for strengthening the abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles. This class gives each person the tools they need to master proper trunk stabilization for safe and efficient movements throughout their lives on a daily basis.
Mat Pilates
Whole body strengthening, toning, lengthening and alignment classes that contribute to improved core stability and flexibility. This class can move from a “beginning level” emphasis to “intermediate or advanced,” depending on the ability and experience of the class.
Classes include Mat Pilates Flow, Intermediate/Advanced Mat Pilates in Action and The Heart and Soul of Mat Pilates.
Pilates Apparatus
Pilates Apparatus Essentials featuring Peak Pilates Equipment, including Reformers, Cadillacs, Chair and Barrel. One complimentary semi-private session is offered to full-week guests; all other guests may request a session for an additional charge.
Resistance Balls
With an emphasis on functional fitness this strength and endurance class utilizes three pound balls that allow the introduction of non-traditional movements. Expanding ranges of motion through slow and methodical movements helps to improve the condition of joints, muscles and other connective tissues. Primarily focuses on the promotion of muscle endurance, body awareness and balance.
Resistance Bands/Bars
Utilizing a combination and variety of elastic bands and tubing equipment, this class offers resistance methods with a strong emphasis on range of motion and control. The “distortion of resistance” factor of this type of training may be a new experience for even the most seasoned exercisers. Proper technique and safety tips offered are invaluable for refining the individual’s body awareness and control throughout the exercises.
Stability Balls
Although these oversized balls look like they belong in a child’s play yard do not be fooled! Originating in the area of Physical Therapy for rehabilitation they are excellent tools for creating a variety of exercises. Faced with the instability the ball can create for specific exercises, the guests can improve their core strength, overall muscle endurance and balance. The beauty of the ball is that it can also provide great torso support for those with problematic backs. The ball can provide a full spectrum of exercises for a well-balanced resistance program with an effective cross-training element.
Waterworks
A non-impact class performed in the water. Using a variety of movements and equipment these classes may place the emphasis on cardiovascular conditioning, muscle toning and endurance or both. The Cal-a-Vie pool is kept between 88 and 91 degrees for a comfortable experience year round. Those that participate in water classes find them both therapeutic and fun!
