Dr. Valencia Porter | Ayurvedic Lifestyle

An expert in Integrative, Holistic, Environmental and Preventive Medicine who inspires and informs people to live their best lives.

A graduate of Tufts University, she received her MD from the University of Southern California, completed a residency in General Preventive Medicine at the University of California San Diego, and a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona where she was a Bravewell Collaborative scholar.  Double board-certified, she was one of the first physicians to achieve board certification in Integrative Medicine and serves on the American Board of Integrative Medicine.  Dr. Porter also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health focusing on Environmental Health from San Diego State University.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition and is on the Professional Advisory Board of the American Nutrition Association.  Dr. Porter has extensive training in many healing modalities including certifications in yoga, meditation, and medical acupuncture.
For the last 9 years, Dr. Porter has worked with Dr. Deepak Chopra at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, where she provides integrative medical consultations and teaches both health professionals and the community.  She combines the best of conventional medicine and complementary modalities to help individuals achieve their health and wellness goals utilizing her knowledge of Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, functional medicine, environmental medicine, nutrition, herbal medicine, and other healing traditions.  At the Chopra Center, she served in various positions including Director of Women’s Health, Director of Integrative Medicine, and Medical Director.  She is also part of the Chopra Center research team which is looking at the effects of meditation, yoga, and Ayurvedic practices on health outcomes.
