COVID-19 UPDATE

Cal-a-Vie Health Spa is open and welcomes all travel in accordance with the county of San Diego.

We are more focused than ever on providing a safe and comfortable stay for our guests and are following the guidance of local health authorities, the CDC and World Health Organization. 


Due to the declining case rate in our area, the new San Diego County Health Order now allows all spa treatments and fitness classes to be conducted indoors with social distancing measures still in place. Work stations and rooms will be cleaned and sanitized prior to and after every spa treatment and fitness session. Please continue reading to learn more about the enhancements we've made to our already strict cleaning standards and what to expect during your next wellness retreat.  

Physical Distancing

Guests will be advised to practice physical distancing during their stay. We kindly request at least six feet distance from other groups of guests while standing in lines, participating in fitness activities, utilizing the elevator, or moving around the property. Dining tables, lobby furniture, and other physical layouts will be arranged to ensure appropriate distancing. Cal-a-Vie Health Spa will comply with or exceed, local or state-mandated occupancy limits. Visible signage will also be posted as a continual reminder to practice social distancing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Guests will be required to wear a protective face covering while they are passengers in a Cal-a-Vie Health Spa vehicle. Face coverings are mandatory while in public and common areas where other guests are around. Extra face masks will be available at the Front Desk upon request. Staff will be required to wear face-covering when interacting with guests or co-workers within 6 feet distance. Appropriate PPE will be worn by all employees based on their role and responsibilities and in adherence to state or local regulations and guidance. Training on how to properly use and dispose of all PPE will be mandatory. Every employee entering the property will be provided a mask and required to wear that mask while on property where social distancing cannot be accomplished. Gloves will be provided to employees whose responsibilities require them as determined by medical experts including housekeeping and staff in other departments. Additional PPE such as sneeze barriers and electrostatic sanitation foggers will be placed and utilized in required areas to maximize our COVID 19 preventive measures.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at key guest entrances and contact areas such as our front desk, meeting rooms, exercise studios, and reception and dining areas. Additionally, our valued guest will receive  complimentary hand sanitizer.

Touchless Thermometers

All employees, guests, vendors, and external service representatives will be required to have a noninvasive temperature check by trained staff utilizing a touchless thermometer prior to entering the property. Anyone displaying a temperature over 100.4°F will not be allowed on property that day and will be directed towards appropriate medical care.

Guest Arrival (Shuttle, Valet or Self Park Service)

All transportation vehicles will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to and after each pick-up. Hand sanitizer will be available in all vehicles. Guest occupancy in company vehicles will adhere to social distancing guidelines. A team member will greet each visitor upon arrival, and drivers will open car doors as needed. Guests requesting bell service will be assisted. If used, the bell cart will be sanitized prior to and after each use. Drivers, Valet, and Front Desk staff will be equipped and wearing appropriate facial masks while assisting guests. After assisting each party, staff will discard PPE and don new PPE prior to assisting other next guests.

Guest Registration/Checkout

Upon arrival, guests will receive a complimentary safety kit which includes hand sanitizer, mask, and gloves. The Front Desk area has been arranged to maintain proper social distancing standards. For added protection, Plexiglas barriers and related COVID 19 related signage will also be in place. Guests will not need to visit registration to check-out. Copies of their final bill can be emailed, faxed or mailed upon request directly by the front desk.

During your Stay

Should you become ill: self-isolate, notify management immediately and we will contact local health authorities for proper EMS pick up. We will promptly initiate additional protocols for your safety and the safety of others.

Guest Rooms

Industry-leading cleaning and sanitizing protocols will be used to clean guest rooms, with particular attention paid to high-touch items including toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handles, water faucet handles, nightstands, telephones, in-room control panels, light switches, temperature control panels, alarm clocks, luggage racks, and flooring. Sanitizing products will be deployed into the rooms by use of an electrostatic fogging machine to maximize effectiveness prior to a room being occupied and when the room is vacated.

Cleaning Protocols

Cal-a-Vie is using cleaning products and protocols which meet EPA guidelines and are approved for use and effective against viruses, bacteria, and other airborne and blood-borne pathogens. We have remained vigilant in working with our vendors, distribution partners, and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of these cleaning supplies are readily available

Housekeeping

Guest rooms are cleaned twice every day. Clean towels will be available daily upon request. These will be delivered in a plastic bag. All bed linen and laundry will continue to be washed at a high temperature and in accordance with CDC guidelines. Dirty linen will be bagged in the guest room to eliminate excess contact while being transported to the laundry facility.

Public Spaces/Communal Areas

The frequency of cleaning and sanitizing has been increased in all public spaces with an emphasis on frequent contact surfaces including, but not limited to, front desk counters, bell desks, elevator, and elevator buttons, fitness areas, door handles, guest bathrooms, stair handrails, dining surfaces seating areas.

Air Filter and HVAC Cleaning

The frequency of air filter replacement and HVAC system cleaning has been increased and fresh air exchange will be maximized.

Employee Health and Safety

Our team is receiving daily briefings, enhanced operating protocols, and on-going training in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. Their safety is of the utmost importance to us and we're committed to ensuring they stay safe while welcoming and servicing our valued guests.

COVID-19 Training

All employees will receive training on COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols with more comprehensive training for our teams with frequent guest contact including Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Fitness, and Spa.

Daily Briefings

Employee pre-shift meetings will be conducted virtually or in areas that allow for appropriate physical distancing between employees. Larger departments will stagger employee arrival times to minimize traffic volume in employee corridors and service elevators. Hand sanitizer will be available at each time clock-in location. Employees will be required to sanitize prior to and after clocking in. If you have any symptoms of illness, please stay home and avoid contact with other people.

Fitness

Class sizes will be scheduled in a manner consistent with social distancing requirements. Entry and exit points will be clearly marked in all fitness studios. The new San Diego County Health Order now allows all fitness classes to be conducted indoors. If being outdoors is preferred, guests may request to move their workout onto one of our outdoor shaded verandas. Where applicable, fitness staff will keep the studio and work out rooms open and well ventilated. More frequent cleaning and sanitation protocols are being followed to maximize safety. This includes the cleaning and sanitizing of all fitness equipment after each use.

Spa & Beauty

Due to the declining case rate in our area, the new San Diego County Health Order now allows all spa treatments and services to be conducted indoors. If being outdoors is preferred, guests can request to move their treatments outdoors to a private shaded veranda. Work stations and rooms will be cleaned and sanitized prior to and after every session. Staff will don industry-leading PPE and follow established guidelines. Additional safety measures such as protective barriers have been installed.

Food & Beverage

In addition to enhancing cleaning and sanitation protocols, our staff is committed to providing a world-class dining experience for guests. Staff will wear appropriate PPE. Staff will be assigned duties that prevent and or minimize cross-contamination. Protocols to receive, prepare, and serve/deliver food are in place. Dining areas have been modified to accommodate social distancing requirements.

Retail

While shopping in our Boutique and Antique Boutique, social distancing expectations will be required for our guests. Cleaning and sanitation practices will be performed prior to, during, and after each business day. All efforts will be made by staff to accommodate guest requests and ensure guests enjoy a memorable shopping experience. Guests will have the opportunity if interested, to schedule flexible and efficient shopping times. Guests may leave with items or have them mailed to a designated location. No longer will purchased items be delivered by staff to guest rooms.
