
3 Simple Yoga Poses for Beginners
Yoga is a fantastic way to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. Whether you’re beginning your journey at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa or from the comfort of your living room, here are three easy poses to help introduce you to the wondrous world of yoga.
Downward Facing Dog
This pose helps strengthen your body from your head to your toes. While on all fours, keep your hands under your shoulders and your toes tucked as you raise your hips upwards, folding and stretching your body up. Hold for a few deep breaths before dropping back to your hands and knees.
Plank
This easy and straightforward pose is great for the core. While facing forward on all fours, tuck your toes and lift your legs off the mat. At the same time, lift your arms straight up with your palms facing down, using the shoulders and torso to form one straight line with your body.
Tree Pose
Great for balance and mental clarity. While standing up straight with your feet together, bend your right leg inward and fold your foot into your left thigh. At the same time, bring your hands together as if you were praying, and set your focus ahead of you, keeping your head steady. Hold the position and slowly breathe in and out.
