Yoga

ASHTANGA YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga is a rigorous and structured style of yoga that emphasizes a set sequence of postures, synchronized with breath and movement. It’s known for building physical strength, flexibility, and mental focus through disciplined practice. Ashtanga is ideal for those who enjoy structure, physical challenge, and personal growth. It is often practiced in a “Mysore style” setting, where students move at their own pace under a teacher’s guidance. (Level 3)

AQUA YOGA

The dynamic and therapeutic qualities of water make for an invigorating and challenging, yet accessible environment for yoga practice. Aqua Yoga is ideal for all fitness levels, including beginners, seniors, and those recovering from injury. Water helps support the body, easing pressure on the joints. Water also adds resistance and builds strength as the muscles must push against the water. Water can be very nurturing, putting us more in touch with intuition and spirituality. (Level 1-2)

BEGINNER TRAPEZE YOGA

Trapeze Yoga or “Aerial Yoga” blends traditional yoga principles with aerial acrobatics using a specialized yoga trapeze (also called a yoga swing or hammock). It’s a dynamic, strength-building, and flexibility-enhancing experience that’s equal parts playful and restorative. Trapeze Yoga offers a support tool for yoga postures and muscle strengthening techniques. It is the most natural form of lengthening the body and can offer support for stubborn low back pain. *Advanced private sessions available upon request. (Level 2)

CHAIR YOGA

This class is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair or standing using the chair for support. Chair Yoga is excellent for anyone interested in deepening flexibility and increasing personal body awareness. It is designed to make yoga more accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and mobility levels, especially older adults, office workers, or anyone recovering from injury. While seated, you can do versions of twists, hip openers, forward folds, and modified back bends. (Level 1)

CHAKRA YOGA – REALIGN THROUGH MOVEMENT

The Chakra Yoga class is a vibrant, holistic experience that blends physical movement, breathwork, meditation, sound, and energetic awareness to balance the body's seven main chakras—energy centers that correspond to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. (Level 2)

CORE YOGA

Core Yoga emphasizes strengthening and stabilizing the muscles of your core—which includes your abdominals, obliques, lower back, pelvic floor, and diaphragm. It blends traditional yoga poses with targeted exercises to build a strong foundation for balance, posture, and overall movement. You will develop core strength and stabilization, improve your flexibility, muscular strength, posture, balance, and alignment through yoga poses, breathing, and relaxation. (Level 2)

FACE YOGA

Face Yoga is a natural, non-invasive practice that involves a series of facial exercises designed to tone, lift, and relax the muscles of the face and neck. Think of it as a workout for your face—just like regular yoga strengthens and stretches the body, face yoga targets the 57 muscles in your face to promote a youthful, radiant appearance. To assist in the prevention of premature aging, we will take you through this practice which is effective if done for just 15 minutes a day. This class comes with a take-home handout. (Level 1)

GENTLE YOGA

Step into serenity with our Gentle Yoga — a welcoming space designed for all bodies, all ages, and all experience levels. Whether you are brand new to yoga or simply seeking a slower, more mindful practice, this class offers the perfect blend of movement, breath, and relaxation. (Level 1)

GENTLE YOGA WITH DRUM MEDITATION

Gentle Yoga with Drum Meditation is a harmonious fusion of movement and sound. It is a deeply restorative and grounding practice that blends slow, mindful movement with the rhythmic pulse of live drumming. It is designed to soothe the nervous system, release tension, and cultivate inner peace. After light stretching and a relaxing flow, you will be guided into a restorative yoga posture accompanied by drum meditation. (Level 1)

GRATITUDE YOGA WITH MEDITATION

Gratitude Yoga with Meditation is a deeply nourishing experience that blends mindful movement, breathwork, and reflective stillness to cultivate appreciation for life, self, and others. It’s not just about physical poses—it’s a heart-centered ritual that awakens joy and presence. (Level 1)

HATHA YOGA

Hatha yoga is often considered the foundation of many modern yoga styles. It is accessible to beginners and those seeking slower-paced practice. Hatha Yoga is a gentle, deliberate practice that emphasizes physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and mindfulness. (Level 1)

HEART OPENING YOGA

Heart Opening Yoga is a collection of poses and practices that stretch and strengthen the chest, shoulders, and upper back, while also cultivating emotional release and vulnerability. These poses are designed to counteract the effects of poor posture, stress, and emotional guarding, helping you feel more open, energized, and connected. This specific sequence of yoga poses therapeutically releases the chest and stimulates abundance in the heart.      (Level 2)

HEATED VINYASA FLOW YOGA*

The Vinyasa Flow Yoga class is a dynamic and fluid style of yoga that links breath with movement, creating a seamless sequence of poses. It’s often described as a moving meditation, where each posture flows into the next, guided by the rhythm of inhalation and exhalation. This class will be heated with our infrared electric heater. (Levels 1, 2, & 3)

HEATED YOGA SCULPT*

Turn up the heat and transform your practice in Heated Yoga Sculpt—a powerful, detoxifying flow set in a warm, invigorating environment. Yoga Sculpt is a high intensity, dynamic and invigorating workout that combines traditional yoga poses with strength training exercises. HIP & BACK OPENING YOGA

Feel freedom in your spine. Melt tension from your hips. Reconnect with your body. In Hip & Back Opening Yoga, join us for a rejuvenating group class designed to unlock the tight corners of your body and restore fluid movement. This soulful session blends gentle lunar energy with dynamic flow to target the hips and spine—two of the most emotionally and physically burdened areas in the body. (Level 1)

HIP & SHOULDER OPENING YOGA

Hip and Shoulder Opening Yoga focuses on increasing flexibility, mobility, and releasing tension in two of the most commonly tight areas of the body. These practices are especially beneficial for people who sit for long periods, athletes, or anyone dealing with stress or emotional buildup. A specific sequence of yoga poses is used to therapeutically release tension and strengthen the muscles that support the hip and shoulder joints. (Level 2)

INTUITIVE YOGA

LAUGHTER YOGA

Our Laughter Yoga class is a joyful, high-energy experience that blends playful laughter exercises with deep yogic breathing. You will try out 7 different forms of laughter combined with yoga. Laughter has been found to reduce stress & anxiety, boost your mood & energy levels, and strengthen your immune system. This class is less about perfect poses and more about letting go, connecting with others, and tapping into the healing power of laughter.  (Level 1)

LETTING GO VINYASA YOGA

The Letting Go Vinyasa Yoga class blends the dynamic flow of Vinyasa with mindful breathwork and introspective themes to create a space for transformation and renewal. Through movement and breath release any toxic thoughts, worries, or fears that keep you from receiving the gift of total relaxation and rejuvenation. This is a practice that uses the power of breath and mantras to let go of what no longer serves you or what you have outgrown.    (Level 2)

PARTNER YOGA

Connect, move, and grow together in Partner Yoga, a fun and interactive class designed to deepen your practice through collaboration and trust. RESTORATIVE YOGA

The Restorative Yoga class is like a gentle hug for your nervous system—slow, quiet, and deeply nourishing. This class uses slow, deep breathing with gentle, and mindful movements on the floor. TRX® YOGA

This unique class uses TRX straps to deepen stretches, enhance balance, and build lean strength — all while protecting your joints and improving alignment. VINYASA FLOW YOGA*

WALKING WARRIOR YOGA

The Walking Warrior Yoga class blends the dynamic energy of movement with the grounding power of yoga, creating a unique experience that’s both invigorating and meditative. It is a fusion-style class that combines walking meditation through Cal-a-Vie’s cultivated grounds, warrior-themed yoga poses, breathwork, and intention-setting, empowerment-focused movement sequences. (Level 1 -2, sneakers required)

YIN ELEVATE

Experience deep relaxation and physical restoration with the assistance of the Trapeze Yoga silks. This class is for all levels. Release and restore your nervous system while being nestled in the safety of the silk hammock.      (Level 1)

YIN YOGA

Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised much using a more active style of asana practice. Yin Yoga is all about slowing down and softening—like hitting pause in a world that’s always fast-forward. (Level 1)

YIN/YANG YOGA

This class begins with an energizing Yang slow flow to revitalize and warm the body. It then integrates gentle Yin poses to passively lengthen the connective tissue and calm the nervous system. It mirrors the balance of opposites: softness and strength, stillness and motion, the moon and the sun.  (Level 1)

YOGA FOR BETTER BALANCE

Yoga for Better Balance is designed to enhance physical stability, coordination, and body awareness through targeted poses, breathwork, and mindful movement. Whether you are an athlete, a senior, or just someone looking to feel more grounded, this class helps build the foundation for better posture and fall prevention. (Level 1)

YOGA FOR RELEASE

Designed with sensitivity and care, this class emphasizes choice, empowerment, and self-awareness, helping to reduce stress, ease tension, and cultivate resilience. Suitable for all levels, it’s a healing practice that nurtures balance, peace, and inner strength. (Level 1)

YOGA MEDITATION

Find calm and clarity in Yoga Meditation, a grounding class that combines gentle movement, breath awareness, and guided meditation to restore balance in body and mind. This practice helps release tension, improve focus, and cultivate inner peace, making it the perfect reset for your day. Accessible to all levels, it’s a mindful journey inward that leaves you feeling refreshed, centered, and deeply at ease. (Level 1)

YOGA NIDRA

This is a yoga practice available and accessible to everyone. Yoga Nidra holds immense benefits for those who struggle to let go, suffer from lack of sleep, trauma, burn-out, and/or anxiety. It is highly beneficial and holds great healing power for anyone who wants to experience a deeper sense of peace and more profound connection with themselves. Preferably the students lie down in Savasana as that is naturally the most effortless and balanced resting position. It is also common and acceptable to practice Yoga Nidra lying on one’s stomach or side. (Level 1)

YOGA PILATES FUSION

Experience the best of both worlds in Yoga Pilates Fusion, a dynamic class that blends the core-strengthening power of Pilates with the flexibility and mindfulness of yoga. This energizing practice builds strength, stability, and balance while improving posture and releasing tension. Perfect for all levels, it’s a full-body workout that leaves you feeling strong, centered, and deeply refreshed. (Level 2)

YOGA POSE WORKSHOP®

Deepen your practice in our Yoga Pose Workshop®, a focused class designed to help you refine alignment, build strength, and explore postures with greater confidence. Meditation

Meditation is the opportunity to learn how to become quiet, intuitive, and wise in a busy world.
Experience the beauty of our restored 16th century French chapel, the peacefulness of one of our studios or the tranquility of the Labyrinth, while learning techniques ranging from mindfulness practices to guided visualizations. Relaxing through meditation helps elevate inner peace. Learn how to eliminate the burdens of stress and soothe the soul. More than a mind vacation, meditation is a life tool you can use anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

CHAPEL MEDITATION

Find stillness and reflection in our Chapel Meditation, a serene practice held in a quiet, sacred space designed to nurture peace and mindfulness. Through gentle guided meditation and breathwork, you’ll release tension, center your mind, and connect with a sense of calm and clarity. Suitable for all levels, this practice offers a tranquil escape to restore balance and cultivate inner serenity.

CHAKRA MEDITATION

In this meditation we guide you through all 7 of the body’s Chakras. Chakra means “wheel” or “disk.” Blockage in one or more Chakras manifests congestion in the body’s physical health as well as an imbalance in one’s emotional and/or spiritual life. Meditating on each chakra is a dive into these deep centers of the body. What will be revealed is which chakras require more attention, care, tenderness, and grace.

COMPASSION MEDITATION

This guided meditation is a practice of gratitude and compassion for yourself and others. This compassion is discovered through awareness of breath, noticing your misleading thoughts and letting them go, and reframing your mindset to reflect an openness to that which you do not yet understand.

CRYSTAL BOWL SOUND BATH

Through the sounds and vibration of the crystal bowls, sometimes called singing bowls, experience a meditation unlike any other. A crystal bowl sound bath is a deeply immersive experience where the soothing tones of quartz crystal singing bowls are used to promote relaxation, healing, and inner balance. These bowls produce rich, resonant sounds that correspond to different chakras or energy centers in the body. The experience can feel like a gentle sonic massage, enveloping you in waves of sound that encourage deep relaxation and emotional release. Some people describe it as entering a dreamlike state or feeling more connected to their inner self.

EMBODIED MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Step into presence with Embodied Mindfulness Meditation, a grounding class that combines gentle movement, breath awareness, and guided meditation to help you connect deeply with your body and the present moment. This practice encourages calm, clarity, and self-awareness while reducing stress and tension. Accessible to all levels, it’s a restorative space to slow down, listen inward, and cultivate balance from the inside out.

EXPLORING MEDITATION

This offering is ideal for anyone new to meditation. Exploring meditation will reveal how to incorporate a meditative state of mind in your busy life back home. Silent walk, mindful eating, gemstone energy healing and crystal sound bowl will be explored experientially and through discussion.

FIND YOUR HIGHEST SELF MEDITATION

Elevate your practice with Find Your Highest Self Meditation, a transformative class designed to guide you toward clarity, inner peace, and your fullest potential. Through guided visualization, breathwork, and mindfulness, you’ll connect with your inner wisdom, release limiting thoughts, and step into greater self-awareness and empowerment. Suitable for all levels, this meditation is your space to awaken, align, and embrace the highest version of yourself.

FLOATING SOUND BATH IN THE UPPER POOL

In the evening, immerse yourself in serenity with the Floating Sound Bowl Bath in the Upper Pool. This unique, weekly experience places you dryly on a raft to gently drift in our stunning Olympic-sized saltwater pool, while soothing sounds wash over you. Combining the calming sensation of floatation with resonant tones from crystal bowls, instruments, and nature, this meditation melts away tension, balances energy, and nurtures deep relaxation to prepare you for slumber. FREE MOVEMENT MEDITATION

Explore freedom and presence in Free Movement Meditation, a liberating class that combines mindful movement with meditation to help you connect deeply with your body and inner self. Without structured poses, you’re encouraged to move intuitively, release tension, and express yourself fully, cultivating awareness, calm, and inner balance. Perfect for all levels, it’s a joyful and empowering way to experience mindfulness in motion.

GUIDED MEDITATION

Studies have shown that meditation can increase the production of alpha waves in the brain. This can lead to a state of relaxation and calmness, as well as improved cognitive function an instructor will facilitate an intentional, guided meditation meant to open your mind to self-reflection, compassion, peace, and balance.

GUIDED MEDITATION WITH SOUND HEALING

Experience deep relaxation and renewal in our Guided Meditation with Sound Healing, a restorative class that combines mindful visualization, breathwork, and therapeutic sounds to soothe body, mind, and spirit. Healing tones from crystal bowls, gongs, and other instruments help release tension, restore balance, and enhance inner clarity. Suitable for all levels, this meditation offers a serene space to recharge, center yourself, and cultivate lasting calmness.

INNER CHILD MEDITATION

Reconnect with joy and playfulness in Inner Child Meditation, a nurturing class designed to help you heal, honor, and embrace your younger self. Through guided visualization, gentle reflection, and mindful practices, you’ll release old patterns, cultivate self-compassion, and rediscover a sense of wonder and lightness. LOVE LETTER MEDITATION

This class begins with a guided meditation on love in your life and discovering who needs more of it. Whether it be you, a family member, partner, or friend you who needs more love, you will follow the meditation by writing a letter with words of loving affirmation. This letter can be sent or given to the intended recipient or taken home for yourself.

MEDITATION NATURE WALK

Our Meditation Nature Walk is a gentle, mindful practice that blends walking with meditative awareness, as we make our way through Cal-a-Vie Health Spa’s beautiful flora and fauna. You will practice meditation in motion by staying present, taking in your surroundings, noticing how movement feels in your body, how the air and sun feel against your skin, remaining aware of changes in your breath, and walking with relaxed wakefulness.

PRANAYAMA “YOGA BREATHING MEDITATION”

Discover the transformative power of breath in our Pranayama Group Class—a serene, spa-inspired experience designed to calm the mind, energize the body, and restore inner balance. SATURDAY EVENING REFLECTION CIRCLE

Join us by the lower pool fire pit in the winter or at the Garden Room Terrace in the summer to reflect on your wellness journey at Cal-a-Vie. Guests may join anytime between 5:10–6:00pm to participate in the circle and stay for as long or as little as they like. Set your intentions as you head home and celebrate all you’ve accomplished during your stay at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa.

SELF-LOVE MEDITATION

What is self-love? We hear the buzz word often in the wellness industry, but it can be a nebulas concept. This is a discovery unique to everyone. This meditation is a guided experience designed to help participants reconnect with themselves, foster compassion, and build a deeper sense of inner peace. It often blends mindfulness, breathing exercises, gentle self-reflection, and self-care rituals. This meditation provides practical tools and techniques to bring into your daily life to experience more love, peace, and joy.

TRANSFORMATIONAL BREATHWORK

Our Transformational Breathwork meditation is an immersive, often deeply emotional experience designed to unlock physical, mental, and spiritual healing through conscious breathing techniques. This breathwork is designed to regulate the autonomic nervous system by shifting stored trauma, releasing emotional blocks, and reconnecting with one’s authentic self. We recommend practicing this breathwork right after waking, or before a meal, when your stomach is still empty.

VIBRATIONAL SOUND MEDITATION
